If a Roof can be have a warranty for 70 years, a boiler for 11 years, and a new domestic home for 10 years with longer on certain parts of it and that's just for low level domestic use. Then surely a public use structure should be guaranteed for at least £50 years? The extreme cost of almost anything that authorities are involved with is usually justified by the " stringent requirements set out for structures of public usage" Nothing new it dates back generations. So is it once again the slack overseeing and casual signing off of things and thus negating any sort of comeback if the thing fails from it's own poor construction or materials? This really is where either LBH or British Waterways or the sponsor of the Bridge ought to be directing questions. Maybe they are. But it would be nice to know. Fountain Centre springs to mind as not once, but twice being riddled with shoddy workmanship and poor choice of materials. |
