| That's very right about maintenance. I remember in Ealing men used to come around and put chains with steel cones on them and drag them through the sewers as regular maintenance to keep them clean. Also a man from the waterboard rode around on a bike and checked stopcocks outside of houses. Drain cleaners always were around, they must have impressed us kids as Dinky even produced a model of one. |
