| All over Ealing and Brentford the sewers were descaled around once every 7 years. The Descaling contractors were based in Derwent Yard beside Northfields Tube station. Their plant was simple and effective and pretty much as originally designed for the types of sewers in older streets - which is most. Was a few hours per section so the whole thing rolled on over a year or so to do entire districts. But that was when it was small local contractors who were able to do a proper local service with low overheads and not spend 60% of the time jumping through hoops to get a contract and spend more time with paperwork than getting the job actually done and done properly. |
