It seems that back in 1968 Both Lionel road and Buford Road/Green Dragon Lane were referred to as Relief roads to avoid the over used Brentford High Street and Kew Bridge Road. The roads were straightened and Lionel Road resurfaced for HGV and the Hump on the bridge reduced. With A Cycleway being shoehorned into a road that can barely cope with buses and HGVs passing each other and the ULEZ forcing more traffic onto the 406 and 205 this potentially is going to ramp up stationary traffic and thus pollution. riding round Brentford and Ealing during the day shows a lot more vehicles parked during the day so the wave of heavy traffic is clearly not local use. It's commuters forced off the trains. With local councils ( not this one I think) offering annual permits for non residents this negating the whole ethos of CPZs for residents benefits what is the point of hampering local traffic during the day. Think more about rush hour restrictions and try that first. It's hard enough to get around by car or van when you have to already when the alternative is simply not feasible for so many. Especially all those who run errands and provide simple stuff like friendship. |
