It's not evangelical, it's pragmatic. If people don't stop using cars for every journey then the people who actually need to use motor vehicles will find it impossible to get around. Most people are not disabled or elderly and most journeys in London are less than 4Km. Most shopping trips could be accommodated on a bike with decent racks or on foot with a wheelie basket. Motor traffic in Wuhan was back above 'normal' within two weeks of the lockdown being partially lifted, with public transport use down 80%. Do the maths for London. |
