Peak time road closure just to prevent rat running would be better as local traffic is what is left after the rush. That allows things to be normal for those coming and going. Problem for Carers is that very few would call themselves that. Nor will they qualify for any sort of dispensation. Many older people are fantastic in the way they, if fortunate enough to still be able to get around by car do so many things for others from grandchildren to friends older or less able than themselves. They are the backbone of our normal society but for some years this has been made harder for them as one thing most elderly of modest means fret about rules regulations and getting fined. One parking ticket wipes out a weeks pension. That for doing a favour makes them think twice about going to those locations and there the slippery slope begins. So as long as people can enter the road and park and manoeuvre to get back out easily then fine, but would be better if just for the bad times of the day. Problem is how will the already under strain Brentford High Street and Kew Junction cope without any form of relief road? Lionel road was exactly that and ought not to be closed as it was not a residential road in the first place and was not part of the planning permission to alter that status. |
