Peter, ANPR cameras are really inexpensive (under £1000 for a good one), So, with other associated costs (wiring, signage etc.) you can probably implement this scheme for well under £5000 which will probably be recouped in fines within a few weeks. As to ANPR accuracy, the largest software supplier reports a 95-98% hit rate. However if this is backed up by video evidence the rate climbs to 99.6%. That said, what annoys me with camera-enforced schemes is the 'presumopotion of guilt' in that you have to prove that it was not you. In no other area of English law does this exist. |
