We've had 'tactical voting' which is where you have to guess how other people are going to vote to make your vote worth anything (and that includes guessing how they are guessing) and now we have what I can only call 'tactical standing' where you do (or don't) put up candidates to achieve some objective which isn't necessarily the election of that candidate. I suggest that if you would rather just be able to decide who you want elected, and failing that person being elected who your next choice is, and so on, that you should vote for one of the parties committed to electoral reform. And they don't include the Labour Party or the Conservative Party. (And yes, I know the local Council can't change the voting system, but pressure from every direction is the only thing that will work). Tom Beaton (Green Party) |
