I think its rather crude to suggest that people only vote Lib Dem in local elections to kick the goverment. I suspect that Labour is looking at a further 150 seat loss in London. The Lib Dems are likely to gain massively in Brent, Haringey, and Southwark and its largely out of good performances by their resident MPs. The Tories too are likely to gain seats in Croydon and Bexley purely out of good perfomace by the MPs. Since our MP has performed appallingly, I think it has repurcussions for the Council. But to say people will do so purely as a slap to the ruling party is insulting to the 26% who voted Lib Dem in 2002 across the country. This time it'll be around 29%. The fact is our local governance has been lacklustre in LBH. We need a clearout. |
