I'm not surprised the Waterman's is underused. I think the same thing every time I pass it. What is on there? I know people can check online but for goodness sake when you go to the Theatre you can see what is on because they advertise it outside, same with cinemas what do the Watermans have, a small A board for The Guru (which I assume is the Indian restaurant! Nothing to let anyone know that this building is an "Arts Centre" which I believe was it's original description. Every time I pass it I think it's a swimming pool even though i know it's not. Even it's name suggest a watery theme and if you didn't know any better I swear that's what you would think it was. During some school holiday or other last year, my daughter commented on how useless the Watermans was because whatever films they were showing were either adult or foreign and my grandchildren had to travel to Kingston to see whatever the popular childrens film out at that time. In other words the Watermans scheduling is all to pot. During school holidays cater for children - simple! For goodness sake if it looked more like an arts centre and less like a boring concrete block and had some sort of means of decent advertising that coud be seen from the street - not some typed up list perhaps on a notice board -people may actually start using it. |
