have to agree with Anthony on this. I haven't used the Watermans for alot of years but was never away from the place when it first opened. I can't agree with Annes comment 'that any move from the present isolated and unattractive location (windswept, litter-blown, muddy etc) can only be an improvement' Is this building not on the main road served by the same buses that service the joke high street no more than 3 stops further down? and the term 'town centre'. If you blink you'd be excussed for missing Brentford Town Centre altogether. How about spending the money put aside for a new improved arts centre to better use and regenerate Brentford Town Centre, all 20 or so shops of it and spend the change on putting a perfectly good art centre, The Watermans' back to its former glory. also Anne you said 'Brentford town centre cries out for something distinctive enough and attractive enough to give it some significance, or to at least form a central focus point...' i agree with you on this point but would repeat the high street/town centre needs to be turned into just that. The last place anyone in Brentford goes if they need to shop for anything at all is Brentford High St/Town Centre |
