| It costs us about £6,000 a year to have someone pick up litter once a day. Lighting costs about £500 a year. Gardening about £400. And maintaining the CCTV £250...and that's before we've paid the rates, had the walls cleaned and painted, painted the lines, unchained the supermarket trolleys, towed the abandoned cars away and replaced the signs. Watermans isn't a profit-making enterprise. It recycles everything it makes into keeping prices low and making the programme as accessible as possible to people who need it most. We're just trying to do this a bit more. |
