"Watermans is a success because it it priced right for most local people. Especially older people. One forgets that ....... most people including home owners around here are of modest incomes and low incomes. Something our councillors have completely forgotten ...... Far from reality." You've hit the nail on the head Anthony! My friends and I have been 3 times this month, parking on site, going for lunch with a draft Tiger beer each and then the film - on each occassion, the cinema was packed, the restaurant almost full and the bar humming. We are already booked for Les Mis and Lincoln and are considering 3 more films as well. Waterman's has a core of devoted patrons, if Waterman's were to close, it would be sadly missed - Richmond cinemas cannot replace it - too expensive, not easy parking (we bring full cars). Waterman's has almost become our "Day Centre" - it is an asset. The Waterman management just need to develop programmes to fill the rest of the space (yes Keith, good idea, school workshops, pre-school activities) and events to fill that lovely little theatre - what about some of the excellent local dramatic societies being encouraged to put on shows there? Please keep our Watermans. |
