I remain subbornly of the view that unless the redevelopment of Brentford means that Waterman's will be surrounded by new buildings thus linking it to the present shopping area and making it look genuinely part of Brentford High Street, the whole ruddy thing should go into a new building somewhere near the middle of the present shopping area, if not down on the developed waterfront area amongst the cafes and restaurants (the best place for it, but probably financially out of the question). It just cannot be left isolated in no-mans-land where it is now, looking more like a public convenience than an arts centre, whatever money-saving tinkering they do with it. Does anyone know if there are any other arts centres in Hounslow? (I believe the Paul Robeson centre in Hounslow itself has now closed). |
