| "I walked through Hounslow High Street today and felt like a complete stranger. I called into the post office in WH Smiths where there are 7 positions, every single one was occupied by an Asian women, the manager was also Asian. Does that reflect the diversity of my community?" What exactly is racist about this comment? Did the poster say that the post office should be closed down because of it? Did he say the service was poor based solely on the colour or ethnicity of those serving? This comment seems to be a statement of fact without anything negative attached and therefore anyone with an actual understanding of racist and diversity issues would identify that there is nothing in this comment that is "creating racial tension". I worked in a building in Hounslow where statistically being white I was in the minority. This does not mean the building did not do well, or operated poorly. This also does not make me a racist. It was a statistical fact. (Of course now I suspect Robin is going to come on and call me Hitler or something!) |
