| A sticky one this, personally I find the wearing of the veil pretty offensive, but either we ban ALL religious symbols like the French or we allow everyone of whatever faith to express that faith openly. It is odd that France is a Catholic country and has gone down this route, I'd bet good money we'd have the churches up in arms here if we tried to do this. I do think it is high time Church & State were separated and perhaps then we could also do away with 'faith schools', which are so divisive. I wouldn't hold my breath though, I can hear the clamour from the PC brigade as I type! |
