More nonsense from Lambert. It is practically impossible to get a same day face to face appointment with a GP on the NHS. If you have a serious enough condition the GP will refer you to phone 111 or go directly to A&E or call an ambulance. This is just another fantasy of Mr Lambert’s. Yes, it’s easy enough to use Google Translate so one wonders why Mr Lambert, as a Labour Cabinet Member for years, never tried to save £millions by cancelling the Council’s Translation services and stopped the waste in printing translated documents into multi languages. Surely the Council should simply be referring everyone to Google Translate or similar? Why waste taxpayer money when something is so simple as Mr Lambert proclaims. It is a fact that teachers are losing multiple hours in assisting pupils who can’t speak English. This is to the detriment of English speaking children who are held back in learning other subjects. Mr Lambert only needs to talk to any teachers who have immigrants in their classes. The Nuffield Report is from over a decade ago in 2012 and refers to research held over a decade prior to that. It was true at that time (as per the report) that the vast majority of immigrant children were from European Countries with education systems far superior to UK State School children and many, if not most, could understand at least some basic English. That is not true of today! The demographics of immigrant children is now vastly different with the vast majority coming from Non EU countries - mostly from third world regions of Africa, Middle East, Pakistan and India. Mr Lambert is being disingenuous at best or …… Mr Lambert is quick to deny that immigrants are afforded Council Housing in Hounslow but he hasn’t provided any information as to where the Asylum Seekers are housed while they are being processed, or even after they have been processed, whether they be successful or unsuccessful with their applications. More importantly he hasn’t divulged where the Greens will house illegal immigrants in Hounslow Borough!! |
