| I have e-mailed Ed Mayne and copied it in to The Leader suggesting that councillors could and should refer this matter back to the IBAF cttee. with the agreement of the Chair and let the other members know this is being done in the light of last night's meeting. They should discuss deferring the closure and take another look at a proper consultation and the options for controlling and managing traffic on the Twickenham Rd. These could include looking at the junctions at Worton Rd, Mogden Lane and pressing TfL to look at traffic lights on the A316 roundabout as a matter of urgency. If the will is there then there is no reason at all why this could not be done, Cllr. Sampson may not understand how local politics works, but councillors ARE the council and if they say this is what they want to do, then there is nothing stopping them. If they cannot or will not do this then they really are either insensitive or simply do not care about local people's views. I agree not including the West Middx. in this was madness, closing roads is not and never has been a solution, controlling and managing the speed and volume of traffic might be. |
