Ian, By definition it involves me on both a personal level (as I'm both a resident of the Borough) and on a professional level (as a planning consultant). It worries me that in your post earlier today you grouped together 'expertise' and 'tales of woe' - no criticism intended but what Joe Public often describes as a 'tale of woe' is in fact something that is based upon the confines of national legislation, but Joe Public doesn't have the expertise to know that. I'm all for the Council and external groups working together, I am happy to provide occasional planning advice to people via these forums and when I worked in local government was always happy to meet with Residents Associations etc, but my concern with an organisation like LBH Watch is that, if you read your opening post on this thread again, it basically says is "We think Officers are dodgy and we're out to get you". I've said it before and I'll say it again, maybe I'm completely blind/naive/out of touch, but I spent almost 10 years at 5 different Councils at a Senior level and I never witnessed any of this skullduggery going on, of course at times there were clashes between Officers and Members but that is only to be expected. |
