Steve You have hit the nail on the head. Just what exactly do well-meaning people of any political persuasion have to fear from a group such as LBH Watch, the role of which is simply to identify areas of underperformance from a user's perspective and bring them to the attention of the powers that be so that they might be rectified? As a member of the administration prior to May 2010 I would have welcomed the formation of a group of this nature at the time. I would have considered it an ally in my efforts to help bring about accountability. Personally I find the mentality of people who don't want to know where things are going wrong hard to fathom. When Chief Officers work to their own agenda this undermines those in power more than it undermines anybody else. A forward-looking administration with confidence in itself would take advantage of LBH Watch and actively encourage participation in its work. I hope Vanessa's comments in particular are not indicative of a re-emergence of the insecurities of old. |
