There is no money in the Hounslow Area Committee to pay for repairs in Whitton Dean. I have no need to defend your views on the Labour Chair as I will be opposing that party and all others on May 6th. However, it should be pointed out that the Council rejected a motion from my group that would have provided £400,000 extra to Area Committees next year for environmental improvements such as road and footway repairs. This was in spite of a £1 million cut in road repair budgets for 2010-11 despite the dreadful winter. The last Hounslow Area Committee was asked to approve the use of S106 funding to repair Whitton Dene. The plan was to use funding from a development over 1 mile away - not plausible. The area has over £1.1 million in unspent S106 funds and stands to lose much of this due to incompetent management of these funds by the current administration. |
