Well my wife and I went out today armed with tape-measure and camera and found many of the potholes to be well over 50mm deep. Some in excess of 100mm. I have written to the Council and send the photos so I'll wait and see. "Dear Mr Foster I am concerned that following the inspection of the road last week you do not deem it appropriate to resurface the road as you do not believe your intervention criteria of 50mm has been met. The potholes stretch over an area exceeding 30 metres and clearly some of the potholes far exceed the 50mm criteria. You are aware that the road is used by heavy traffic including buses and it is also used by schoolchildren on bicycles en-route to Gumley School for Girls. I would suggest that a child or young adult, cycling in bad light, may hit one of these potholes and there is high risk of a serious accident should they come off their cycle. I am concerned therefore that not only do you feel it appropriate to address this issue directly, you also believe it unnecessary to put the matter before the Hounslow Central Area Committee. I attach hereto several photographs taken today (although you already have several I took in January) and wonder how you can persist that your intervention criteria has not been met. I am copying the press in this correspondence as they may take an interest in this matter. Regards Steve Taylor" |
