Steve I don’t intend to elaborate on what I said previously, other than to reiterate that pothole repairs are “reactive maintenance” and are done by Highways without having to go anywhere near IBAC or the other area committees. “Planned maintence” is the whole street resurfacing I referred to in my previous email, which does go through these committees. The only crossover between these two processes would be that the engineers will try to avoid filling numerous individual potholes on a street if the whole street is to be resurfaced in the very near future. And of course if a street is heavily potholed along much if its length it’s probably a leading contender for planned maintenance (whole street resurfacing). The Council’s PFI will result in a very significant improvement to the borough’s roads and footways from 2013, but until then the above-described processes apply. |
