| Classic victim blaming and trying to excuse the person who opened the car door negligently. A "blind spot" isn't an excuse for negligence. "I didn't see you" is an admission of guilt, not a justification. Fortunately, that type of collision can't occur with a separated cycle lane, a factor why casualties on Chiswick High Rd have reduced. I don't think you have thought through the rest of your post as you point out safety issues with buses but then oppose designs that keep vulnerable people apart from them. It is a bit like claiming that a piece of dangerous machinery in a factory doesn't need a guard screen around it and all people need to do is take care. It is funny how some people claiming to be concerned about safety have been silent for years despite the poor record of casualties on Brentford High St caused by motor vehicle drivers but now appear to think that the most dangerous thing on the road are bikes. |
