| I'm don't have a problem with the bus islands introduced so far in Brentford. There are clear sightlines either way and relatively low numbers of cyclists. The one in the centre of Chiswick is a different matter entirely and I would say that minor collisions happen there regularly that go unreported having seen a couple myself. It is clearly a stressful experience for people with disabilities. The fall in serious collisions on Chiswick High Road isn't necessarily anything to celebrate. The number of vehicles going up and down that road has reduced due to increased congestion caused by capacity reduction. These extra vehicles will have been displaced elsewhere and there is no reason to assume they are less likely to be involved in a collision than before. |
