Raymond, you can't use the words "more backhanders, no doubt" about a specific issue involving only 2 parties (the applicant and the local authority) and then suggest that's not a direct allegation of impropriety by one or both of those parties. You think you have a legal defence against defamation, I most certainly don't, and ultimately if either party takes this matter further then you'll find out whether you do or not. And as I say it has nothing to do with my profession, the same principle applies to anything, if someone makes a direct accusation that an individual or a organisation is corrupt, be they an athlete, a sports team, a financial institution or whatever, then they have to face the consequences, like Sally Bercow, numerous fans of Blackpool FC and so forth. |
