Curran flexing his muscles again and telling the loacl MP to keep her beak out of his business Council leader Steve Curran said: "I'm grateful for Ruth Cadbury's interest in the trial closure. She will know only too well of the many requests over decades the council has received for a traffic management programme for Church Street and North Street that reduces the impact of through traffic on residents' quality of life. "By trialling the closure of the road for this length of time, we believe it will be clear what the impact would be from a permanent arrangement. This will provide final clarity on an issue which has been debated for many years. "A shorter time frame could give rise to the claim that not enough time was allowed for the local network to fully adapt to the closure and so the true impact of the measure would not be known - despite all the disruption and cost incurred. "There will be a report on the impact of the closure of Church Street to the Isleworth & Brentford Area Forum in 2016, around the half way stage of this trial - September/October 2016 - and there will be opportunities for councillors to consider the time frame of the trial at the same time." |
