The legal route is to set up a residents board of directors - this is very common and does work. Yes, there will be developments where only 1 or 2 people make the effort and then its more difficult to check what they are deciding and approving. A decent number would be 4-6 directors - this would make dishonesty very difficult. These directors are ordinary people, simply owners of properties on the development who have a vested interest in getting the right service for the right service charges. Its just a matter of sticking your hand up and doing a bit of graft to get the managing agent under scrutiny and control. |
