| I'm well aware of this and personally speaking were I a Councillor it's nothing something I'd feel comfortable with simply because of how it could be perceived. But perception and reality are two very different things and if a Councillor has properly declared this role than so be it. People harp on about Councillors being elected to serve their constituents but that isn't the sole extent of their roles and as I frequently point out when it comes to planning committees the notion of serving their community isn't one that can legally carry any weight. It would be naive to think that developers don't talk to Councillors, but equally so do residents, so it has to be the same for everyone. |
