"I cannot see why the council sees fit, when a CPZ is put in place, to add a bunch of yellow lines and various other 'measures' which seem to take away parking spaces." It's a legal requirement that the whole of a CPZ is laid out either with parking or loading bays or with yellow lines. Councils therefore put either single or double yellows where it's dangerous, or at least undesirable, to park (such as at road junctions), and also insert "loading gaps" with single yellow lines, for use by delivery vehicles or as passing places in narrow roads. Some residents may feel that more such yellow lines have been laid down than are necessary, but remember that parking on single yellows is generally allowed outside the controlled hours of the zone. |
