I wholly accept that CPZs can bring unintended and potentially damaging (quality-of-life-wise) consequences, and I'm all for adopting the Zone N approach. However, living in the environs of Griffin Park, and what with the elevated status of Brentford FC, any CPZ has to take into account the frankly horrific parking issues that occur every other Saturday afternoon during the footie season. That means the CPZ being s six-day a weeker and one of the controlled hours scheduled to coincide with the timings of the footie games. In terms of the reduction of parking spaces that appears to come hand-in-hand with a CPZ - why is that? Can we not just address the issues of the day-trippers and - please - the people who park random vans on our streets overnight, presumably because they're so ashamed of them, they don't want to park them where they actually live? And can we not just address these issues without removing legitimate parking spaces to be used by legitimate residents? I'm sorry - but like many of these local issues, I simply do not see what the difficulty is. The situation is never going to be perfect, there will always be more residents' permits than there are parking spaces, but currently I can't park my car anyway, not because of my fellow residents, but because of the day-tripping mooks and their lack of sensitivity and respect for others. No matter what sort of CPZ we get, it's going to be better than the current situation. |
