Paul - I agree, but there's a world of difference between your eminently sensible comment about compromises and stretching planning commitments and what you inferred by your original comment. Philippa - not sure if you're aware but there is a consent for the demolition and rebuilding of the building, the issue is more whether or not what has been done accords with that consent. Vanessa - I don't disagree as such, but we both know that sometimes Councillors can't be as open and transparent as we might want them to be, particularly on a planning issue relating to a listed building which could potentially be the subject of formal legal proceedings. It is a thankless task for any Councillor to put their head above their parapet on forums like this, many (both in this Borough and elsewhere don't) and we never see Officers posting on these forums either. 15 years ago when I was young and abit naive I thought the notion of interacting with the public as an Officer on these forums was a great idea, nowadays I have a completely different view and were I employed by the Council you'd never get a peep out of me. Which is a shame, but I've got to be honest, I tried the openness and transparent approach and you still get the same old nonsense about being dodgy and such like from Joe Public who thinks they can post what they please, so why bother ?. |
