I feel sorry for Phil Andrews and his colleagues who have lost their council seats. I am even more sorry that Labour now has control of Hounslow Council as a result. However I think it is totally wrong for Phil Andrews to blame the Conservative Party for this. Phil Andrews is simply dreaming if he thinks that the Conservative Party is not going to run candidates in every ward in the borough - especially when there is a General Election at the same time. It seems to me that the Labour Party targeted the Community Group and the Lib Dems as the easiest targets to win seats from and they succeeeded. It is regretable that Phil Andrews now appears to be wanting to mount a vendetta against the Conservative Party because he, quite wrongly, blames the Conservative Party for the defeat of the Community candidates. If he does, his vendetta will be seen by the electorate as "sour grapes" and as personal and not political. If after working with the Conservatives for four years, he now wants to work against them, perhaps he should join the Labour Party. |
