I have never heard that it's one way to be selected as a candidate, certainly councillors were encouraged to become Governors. My experience was that we always had terrible problems getting people to serve and had to advertise locally, which we did. Someone also tried to tell me you had to be a regular churchgoer to enhance your chances, another load of piffle. However, Governors are made up of parents, community Governors, teachers, and LEA Governors, and various different designations depending on the school concerned. It takes an odd mind to even begin to imagine that all these people are somehow involved in some sort of evil plot and to what end? Politics do not even enter in to the business of a Governing Body, it's all cobblers if you've been told different. If you are not interested in putting in the work for the school and students don't even bother. |
