So not "followers", nor "disciples", but "underlings"? I'm sure only a broad, Hounslow-wide independent would have the subtlety of thought and mind to appreciate the difference. For the record I accept entirely your version of events conerning the break-up of the Hounslow Independent Alliance Group on the London Borough of Hounslow and I have every confidence that there will be no further ruptures within the Group for the remainder of its period of office. But if you know me at all well John you will be aware that I usually choose my words carefully, and expect others to do likewise. Take Jon Hardy, for instance. As I am Leader of the Community Group on LBH this would make Jon my "underling" as a councillor. However, as he is Chair of the ICG that makes me John's "underling" when we are not being councillors. Confusing, but precise. I pay similar attention in my use of the word "follower". According to Merriam-Webster a follower can be defined as "one that follows the opinions or teachings of another", or "one who chases". There is barely a posting on this forum or W4 from your good self that isn't followed rapidly by another from Vanessa of the "You are so right John!" genre. As you know I don't consider the ICG to be a political party but I do appreciate the value of discipline, planning and hard-gotten progress. You won't find any of us abandoning our posts without a suitable replacement and limply handing our seats back to our New Labour adversaries until such a time as they can demonstrate that they are worthy of them. Can we anticipate the same commitment and endurance from you John? Btw, any evidence forthcoming from Vanessa to support the "personal attacks" allegation? |
