If a station does materialise it will be a single branch to a bay platform at Southall and the timetable will only allow a maximum 1 train per 30 mins on a shuttle with no passing loop and a signalling restriction. Plus the increasing frequency of transfer station freight trains will be blocked in. The trains will only be 2 car, three at the most. The station will only serve the SKY area of Brentfords industrial area and have no parking. It will run to a zone 4/5 station and those cost passengers more than using existing routes. The benefit of Crossrail is not going to be for this area but those living in Slough Reading Maidenhead and comparable satellite towns in the East and South East sides. The only real benefit is the relief to overcrowding on the Central Line and a faster link. This is an idea 20 years too late and ignored by local authorities for over 40 years even when the infrastructure all the way to Brentford town was still intact. Again, Planners for Brentford ignored the potential and allowed development over the trackbed and the removal of the bridge over the A4. And those local who did have vision and foresight were as usual laughed off by the 'experts" elected and unelected within LBH and LBE. Nothing ever changes. |
