Oh Guy! I wish I lived on your planet! What always amazes me is that those of you who push cycling, walking and public transport don't also take into account the vast canal network we have that is chronically underused for moving goods around instead of HGVs banging up and down motorways. Plus I didn't hear anything about the transport infrastructure being in place first before all these fabulous plans? For instance there are two new schools opening up in Osterley this September - for would-be students from south Isleworth public transport stops at Busch Corner. At the planning committee that agreed the Bolder Academy plans there was talk of TfL naturally laying on bus services - like you do - well, a couple of weeks away from term starting and nothing has been done as far as I can gather. So students would have to negotiate London Rd. at Busch Corner, no mean feat these days, walk up to the A4 and cross that and walk up past Tesco. In reality that discriminates against kids from this area, surely transport plans should run in tandem with all these bright ideas? What you will likely get is what no-one wants, even more parents taking their kids to school in an area not suitable for yet more traffic. |
