Cllr Lambert recently admitted to scraping his gaz guzzling jag in one of his posts he even posted a picture of it on the low loader being carted away. As for his musings,,throw a few ideas into the mix to gauge public opinion. As for what he said about electric cars being cheap to buy is more rubbish being spouted by him. Buy a second hand over eight year old electric car and the Battery will probably need replacing at a cost of around £5K. If you didn't replace it and depending how the car has been used the range will likely be severely depleted! Just as when the Blair Brown Gov advised us to buy Diesel engined vehicles this will end the same. Electric vehicles will not save the planet. My small car achieves 50 mpg easily and it has stop start tech and at the moment is still relatively cheap to fill and i can drive London to Manchester and back on a full tank. I certainly would not be able to do that in an electric car. |
