You are breaking my heart. If Lambert puts something on his blog and then claims it’s nobody’s policy, then he’s being untruthful. The LCC, of which both he and Cllr Dunne are members, views private car ownership as unnecessary, and even ‘tyranny’ according to its chief exec. Quite some extremist thinking there, and an approach that’s led to quite a number of normal cyclists leaving that organisation. Where Lambert is being further dishonest (perhaps he aspires to be Boris Johnson, who knows?) is passively acceding to the reallocation of road space, to the detriment of car owning residents who have no option but to park on the road. Hilarious that he now spouts nonsense about street scenes and the like 😊. The terraced roads of Brentford and elsewhere aren’t beautiful anyway, and hundreds of Lime Bikes littering them isn’t making them more appealing, is it? Oh, and that tarmac isn’t ‘just for cars’. It’s for all vehicles including those that bring people their groceries and essential Amazon deliveries. Raymond hit the nail on the head when he said over densification is the real issue. All those newbies will want stuff, and to go to places, and it’s nit all going to be done on a bike. You’ll simply replace the private vehicle with thousands of rental ones, but maybe they look prettier? As I said, the Labour way is to micromanage everyone’s life in the forlorn hope that some socialist utopia will be created. Utter nonsense. |
