The simple answer to your question Vanessa is yes. Bizarre though it may seem in this age of mass communication we are lacking a local media through which the local authority may be held to account. Beyond this excellent but underused forum there is no vehicle through which they may be challenged. This is why you receive no answers on this forum. They will look at the size of its readership, consider the strength of their majorities and laugh at your attempts to highlight their failings. They simply don't care, and will find your indignation and concern about these empty properties highly amusing. The situation isn't helped by the fact that we have an "opposition" which seems happy to limit its ambitions to one small section of the borough, which it is effectively permitted to manage relatively unmolested in exchange for its acquiescence elsewhere in the borough. A seedy little carve-up if ever there was one, with the borough's residents inevitably paying the price. |
