I have just been to the hospital and back, on foot. The jam on Twickenham road was solid, as was the jam along Amhurst gardens, stuffed with drivers trying to cut through and get ahead of the jam, along Twickenham road. The parked cars as you go into Amhurst, along with the tail back of queuing cars means that people cannot enter Amhurst from the hospital end, including the buses who sit there, often sticking back out onto the main road and blocking it. The jam past the hospital was also hindered by the solid line of cars entering the hospital road, waiting to get to the car park. This would also hinder emergency vehicles as this road is also stuffed. Using Church street with emergency access to the rear of the hospital would be very sensible. Also letting the cars waiting to park, queue along the back road and Church street would also help the flow of traffic on Twickenham road. It was mayhem down there, and only the start of the day. |
