Actually it will be part of a lovely ride, for bikes. Doesn't distract from it being a very bad decision to close the road. The new development along side the Sea scouts opens up the river path for bikes and walkers so there is only a short piece of road to cover between the end of the path and Railshead road. I imagine this was part of the work with the Council, as part of the planning permission, and a good step too I might add. We went down to walk on it the other day only to find that instead of it now being open it has been closed until middle of next year as there is another development along the tow path. Tow paths cannot be closed surely? and surely this new footpath in the spirit of the planning, should be open now? If I were wondering about all this I would say that somebody is bound to complain about the open extension to the new footpath and it will then be closed by a barrier which keeps breaking down, and the reason for positioning the cycle rental racks would be to make more of a claim to keeping the road closed in the future. Hey ho. Of course cycle rental racks could have gone in where the expensive plant containers now are, and the money could have funded a few lolly pop people for another year. |
