Am I right that, in the end, these towers are not being clad in the same way as Grenfell but the exterior concrete panels are being properly repaired, together with the balconies, and new windows are being fitted as well as other improvements. It would be interesting to know what the 'major works' bill is for each leaseholder. Depending on what their leases say, they might be able to fight off paying for 'improvements' or for the result of 'historic neglect', and, as others have suggested, recent right to buy purchasers might have a ceiling on what they have to pay. In a recent case, Oxford council found they couldn't pass on the costs of all the regeneration work on an estate but, as there were comparatively few leaseholders, they did all the work on their flats anyway. |
