Some commenters are right, it is not especially noteworthy architecturally, but surely it has to be easier on the eye than what will replace it. It is not protected unfortunately, so the owner has every right to cherchinggg the site. Doesn't make it right though. One of the arguments is that it is unviable as a pub. It may have been mismanaged in recent times, I don't know, but those of you who remember the legendary Ted O'Riordan will know this was an exceedingly popular pub once, at a time when the Express was a bit of a dive! Times change. Secondly, in less than a year from now the Brentford Community Statium will be open around the corner with two sets of fans - football and rugby - in attendance week in week out for 8 or 9 months of the year. This will make a huge difference. Or would have done. |
