The headline is reflective of a many peoples' feelings about a whole host of MPs - across the party political spectrum. The leaflet goes on to explain that the debate will explore both the issue of expenses and democratic reform. The chair's guidance - which I have shared with the Labour Party - makes it absolutely clear, as I have reiterated on this forum, that the hope is that the meetings will not dwell too long on the expenses issue but will look forward to the opportunities to rebuild trust in our democracy. In the past five years Ann has unfortunately never turned up at a cross party debate in the constituency. Regarding your NHS query, my original comment was: "For a junior health minister - and someone that has been a longstanding and vocal supporter of the NHS - to apparently be giving up on the NHS for treatment as these claims suggest, needs urgent explanation." Ann has now provided the explanation for which I called. I'm glad she has explained something that would have sensibly been proactively explained by her when the expenses were first released, but I see no need to apologise. Best, Andrew |
