I should like to see an appearance of lots of individual small buildings - where possible existing old ones conserved. Even when large buildings are constructed, I would hope that ways will be found for their exteriors to give the impression of series of small buildings.I should like to see use of a lot of natural materials, recycled bricks, an opportunity for higgledy-piggledyness giving the impression of organic growth and individuality. Whereas the one period building restored at Ferry Quays looks as if its brickwork has been shaved and its original soft looking grouting replaced with hard looking grouting between the bricks, South of the High Street I hope old buildings will be restored sympathetically in line with their character. A variety of natural surfaces will be needed to give the ground in the lanes interest. We need to look no further than the lanes between Richmond Green and George Street and King Street to see examples of what South of Brentford High Street could be like if the developers use imaginative and skillful architects.
