| It's the underlying message that I find most troubling, if you're an employee getting a 3% pay rise and a Councillor is getting an 19% pay rise that alone shows where the power is. If you're an employee wanting to keep your job are you dare going to speak out if you think something is going on that's untoward ?. I did, and career wise it's the best thing I ever did because the private sector was immediately attracted to the fact I wasn't willing to be anyone's puppet, but most 'sensible' people wouldn't take that risk, cue a Council full of puppets whose sole function is to serve Members. |
