PFI contracts were to be a thing of the past until Wee Georgie realised that they don't show up on the books and would therefore make him look as if he actually knows what he is doing. In case you missed it local authorities have been consistently starved of cash for some years now which has seen many council employees made redundant, hence contracting out. You may remember the famous quote - I think it was Bovver Boy Tebbit, that his ideal local council is one that meets just once a year to hand out the contracts. Outside companies pay minimum wage - or under - if they can get away with it, the terms and conditions offered are an insult and disgrace, sometimes on zero hour contracts. Every corner that can be cut is, it is not about providing a service it's all about making money. Oh how quickly we forget the G4S Olympic fiasco. Now if you believe that is the right way for people to be employed then fine - I don't happen to agree and it is the situation that a lot of local councils have been forced into to keep services going by a government that would privatise you if you stood still long enough. Do you really believe that our utilities are better for being privatised, or do you like being ripped off in the name of ideology?
