Neil, You are far too polite to Kate. For the record, it was always pretty obvious that Ann was not going to attend that particular hustings: the point had been made previously that she was the one candidate who had been invited who had not indicated she would be there, so her intentions were clear from the start. The thing about Kate is that she does not believe in democracy. She asks how she can make her feelings known, well the answer is obvious: in the ballot box. But sadly, Kate is one of life's little tin pot bullies who thinks she can tell other people how they must vote - this fact is clear from the way she & others shouted down Labour's representative when he tried to say things that politer members of the audience might have wanted to hear. I have argued before, and I do so again now: Ann would meet far more genuinely undecided people by doing a night's canvassing than by attending a hustings at which certain types of scum would not allow her to get a word in edgeways anyway. Personally, I am saddened that Ann feels she needs to put herself through this by going to the Chiswick Hustings in a week's time: those in the audience who might want to put a genuine question to Ann and the other candidates are sadly going to be drowned out by the Kate Doyles & the rest of the pond life. The truth is that out on the doorstep - talking to real people in the constituency's core Labour areas - Ann has been getting a very good response: but the forums/hustings simply so not reflect this. |
