As I posted earlier on yesterday evening, it was always going to be an anti-Keen ambush. I still believe your average person in the street doesn't give a damn about hustings and has got better things to do on a Thursday evening - in my case being out for afew drinks, or watching the Europa Cup semi finals. The majority of people who attend hustings, in my view, have decided long ago who they are going to vote for and just turn up to try to turn the event into a rally for their favourite candidate. The deciding factor in many constituencies is going to be the turnout on 6th May, these hustings (and at national level the TV debates) get so much attention, but I firmly believe the majority of the population are utterly bored and disinterested, and the 'hype' this time around is absurd, so I am anticipating a very low turnout across the entire country as the people basically say "we don't care". |
